Today was all about visiting the Terroir (or region for you non Frenchies) of Cote D'Or. We started in Beaune, where we visited a 16th Century hospital that was a stones throw away from our hotel. This hospital had a stunning roof, multicolored in rich tones of yellow, blue and green. It was also very educational; we all learned to give ourselves an enema.
We then went to the Musee du Vin, where the different Terroir's in France for wine and the different appellations were explained. With all this learning, we are well on our way to being wine connoisseurs.
Taking a break from wine, we then took in the sites at Chateau Du Savigny, where apart from having an ornate castle, they also had a lot of motorcycles, cars and airplanes from WWII.
To end our day of site seeing we finished on top of Montagne Du Beaune, where we had an amazing birds eye view of Beaune. C'etait tres jolie.
In the evening, Mer had another date with her French Beau, whilst Ruth and I went to a posh restaurant in the centre of Beaune. The food was amazing; for entree there was the lamb stew where the the sauce was so good, it was difficult not to lick the plate dry. For desert, we had the chocolate lava cake, which when cut, the chocolate gooey yumminess just oozed out.
Afterwards we then went to Bar Du Square to visit our cute Canadian bar man from the night before. As always, when Ruth and I go to a bar, we were harassed by crazies. A couple of guys kept staring at us and then one guy came up to us to try to steal our bottle of Champers. He was a good look a like to Smeagol and I think he thought our golden Champers was his precious. But he was soon chucked out by the Bar Men.
We were drinking the same Champers as yesterday and by chance we met the owners in the bar. They all got our pictures, but we stupidly forgot to take theirs.
